Welcome to Bradford on Avon Community Area Network

For over fifteen years BoaCan has helped to initiate a variety of local projects (including The Hub@BA15 and Made in Bradford on Avon). Our projects typically invovle partnerships with other relevant organisations. These have included Bradford on Avon Town Council, Wiltshire Council, Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust, Bradford on Avon Museum Trustees, Churches Together, Fresh Start Films and our local schools.

Young Futures

Since 2022, after the Covid lockdowns, BoaCan has been organising a variety of programmes to support the wellbeing and creativity of young people. We work with Open Minds Mental Health, Purple Noise CIC (A Music Education Group), Mighty Girls CIC and St. Laurence's Academy, and are an active member of the Local Youth Network coordinated by Caroline La Quesne for Wiltshire Council Area Board.

Thanks to continuing support and funding from the Cllr. Llewellyn Palmer Educational Trust we can now offer 'Young Fashion' workshops in collaboration with Made in Bradford on Avon and 'Young Cooks' as part of the newly-formed Avonworks Grub Club, also supported by Wiltshire Council.

The Avon Works

In 2016 'The Iron Duke', a mid-19th century calendering machine, returned from storage in Bristol to its current location in Kingston Road. BoaCan was responsible for a wide variety of community engagement projects to celebrate the occasion and launched 'The Avon Works' as an online platform recognising the industrial heritage of Bradford on Avon (www.theavonworks.co.uk). We have continued and expanded this project over the past ten years. To mark the 10th Anniversary of the Iron Duke's return we are launching a new and exciting range of projects during the coming year.

The Iron Duke Festival

Marking the 10th anniversary of the return of The Iron Duke, a weekend of reflection and celebration from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September. 'Steampunk Style' at The Three Horseshoes, B.Y.O. Community Picnic in the grounds of The Hall, films, music and memories in St. Margaret's Hall and a full-on blast from Karport Collective at the Bradford Town Football Grounds; a community location donated by the Spencer Moulton Rubber Company in 1912.
