Welcome to Bradford on Avon Community Area Network

For over fifteen years BoaCan has helped to initiate a variety of local projects (including The Hub@BA15 and Made in Bradford on Avon). Our projects typically invovle partnerships with other relevant organisations. These have included Bradford on Avon Town Council, Wiltshire Council, Bradford on Avon Preservation Trust, Bradford on Avon Museum Trustees, Churches Together, Fresh Start Films and our local schools.

Young Futures

BoaCan and The Avon Works are offering a unique opportunity to be part of  a creative exploration of our area’s social and economic heritage, from the perspective of today’s young people.

Young adults based in the Bradford on Avon area, with an interest in filmmaking, acting, media production, broadcast journalism, music composition or song writing are invited to participate in devising and producing a short film or other audio-visual work to be shown at various venues in the area, with support from media professionals and expert historians, and with access to historical sites and equipment provided by BoaCan and The Avon Works.

We will explore::

  • How the challenges and opportunities faced as a young person in the 2020’s compare with those faced by young people in different historical eras.

  • What the stories of the past teach us about the present day.

  • How the experiences and perspectives of young people in the 21st century inform our understanding of history.

Develop your skills • Illuminate the past • Share your perspective • Shape the future

The Avon Works

The Avon Works website is a platform for digital arts and heritage projects in Bradford on Avon.

With initial funding from The Heritage Lottery, local Area Board (Wiltshire Council) and the Town Council, we are especially keen to promote young talent, with the backing of local business and education.

We hosted the various projects arising from the arrival of The Iron Duke, in partnership with the Bradford on Avon Museum and the Preservation Trust.

Mental Health Training

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a series of training courses which teaches you how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

MHFA England is the sole provider of licensed Mental Health First Aid. As an Instructor Member of MHFA the training Open Minds offers is accredited by the Royal Society for Public Health.

Due to generous funding from the Colonel William LLewellen Trust BoaCan is able to offer free training workshops for young people, aged 16-25, from our local area.
