Town Benchmarking is a research tool to address the real issues of how to understand measure and ultimately improve town centres. It has been fine tuned by market town partnerships and Action for Market Towns (AMT) and is now used by over 60 other towns. It involves gathering and analysing data on 12 Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in the town centre and compares the detailed tables and results with other towns, nationally, regionally and with the similar typology. It is also useful for regular year-on-year comparisons.
